The "local" had Olympic curling on 4 of their 6 screens. I think it was The Federal Confederation of Helvetia against the Dominion of Canada.

The only thing I can say about curling being part of the Olympics is that at least there are no judges involved. Things that can't be timed or otherwise measured free of judging, don't belong imo.

It's actually quite a bit of fun. I tried it a few times at the Nanaimo Curling Club and enjoyed it.
I don't think the announcers to a good enough job of describing the shots/strategy on TV broadcasts, so it's not easy for the passing TV viewer to understand. Although I do enjoy listening to Kevin Martin.

I always called it shuffleboard on ice. I like it because it requires skill. I don't care for all the yelling though.

It's a perfect winter sport. Sliding on ice or sliding on snow, that's what it's all about.
And as Cal mentions, at least it has real goals and points, it's not a judged event.

I just about wet myself when I heard that. Seriously? Curling? Guess you really need some performance enhancing drugs for that one.

Curling was part of the high scool curriculum when i went to school. I used to have a lot of fun running around the curling rink as a kid when my dad played in the annual bonspiel… i was never any good at it, but it was fun hurling those rocks down the ice.
