The Weather

I have been there many holidays but my personal record was a whole year. Let me tell you: I can't imagine 60.

It used to be a nice place to live, but isn't anymore. South Florida has made Forbes 10 worst places to live list for the past three years. This year The three south Florida counties each grabbed a spot in the bottom ten list.

This morning it was 22 F, about -5 C, and everything outside is white......guess I'm not in Florida.

Have you seen Cocaine Cowboys? Those were the days. :)

Oddly enough my main problem with Miami is the huge number of Latinos living there. I just find them annoying. Though I love Cuban sandwiches I despise most of the rest: music, gold watches, language ....even haircuts. Haha. Maybe I'm a snob. Also, the decline of the city comes as no surprise to me but I can't talk about politics here. Not interested in politics anyway, if some place goes to hell I move elsewhere.
I have family there though.

* Weather can be tiresome too.

No rain (and that would be thank god), no snow expected to fall (plenty on the ground already) and an expected low of -28 C with a wind chill of -35. I think it will be a perfect day to stay inside tomorrow and work on the rebuild of a Dynaco ST-70 with Classicvalve.ca boards.

But as those in British Columbia's lower mainland always say (again, and again and again).... you don't shovel rain.

we also say (well, during a few months of the year) - if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes

BTW, we can get snow here ( '96, anyone? ) - and if Whistler fits your geographic model - how does -5C and 547cm (215") sound? (cumulative)

That expression is the favourite of those in Calgary, since the mountains do make the weather rather capricious. Of course, weather can change quickly across most of the Prairies, the only issue is that you can see it coming for miles (or hours) so it hardly catches you by surprise. :)

And no, when you live in Victoria, or Vancouver and environs, you cannot include Whistler in your geographic model.

I have been here for 9 days. The high temp has been 33 F and the low 20 F. The white stuff just keeps on coming. These pictures were from Saturday.

For those cold "hoary nights" nothing beats a bottle of Snakebites in the snow. Take one 5th of Yukon Jack, drink about 2 fl. ozs. (to the top of the label) and replace with Roses Lime Juice. Chill to about 0 degrees F and swill directly from the bottle.' It will still be cold outside but you won't care!

Besides, I expect to see some Americans in America, not a sub culture of my own.

Common European misconception. They're all Americans. Lots of subcultures, lots of regional diversity, and lots of languages. You'll see a Chinese looking woman walking out of an Indian restaurant carrying a pizza. And it was cooked by some guys with Spanish names and Mexican complexions.

I get ribbed by my coworker (his parents are from Taiwan) that he regularly eats really good Chinese food at many restaurants staffed only by Mexican cooks!
