I have grown Kohlrabi on several occasions. They remain fairly small, but become 'woody' if allowed to mature too long.
When young the texture is about the same as broccoli stalk heart.

This cake came out nicely fluffy. Except for the butter cream part of course
 I already posted the recipe here Apparently, the vanilla market has crashed this year after a few years of craziness. I can't say that it is reflected in the prices in shops.
