Cables making poor contact and falling out of their sockets will not be a positive thing, sound-wise.
depends on what's playing...

SY I don't mean to be personal, but when have you ever worked for a company over 5 years in duration? I have been with Parasound for more than 20 years, and I do have my confrontations with the boss, but I don't go off 'half cocked'. It's not professional.

Let that be a lesson to you SY. Never advise the BOSS on personal matters.
Cheers.

Is the PC board connected to the back or bottom of the connector?

Most of my career. Why?

I don't know. Perhaps John does.

If you actually look at the connector does it have a single fork contact or a tubular one? Also handy is either the main hole diameter or the mounting holes.

One version has the holes 2cm apart the other .75" x .947".

I use lots of these connectors and if you let me know I can get you the right parts.

My guess is that they are the forked type with the contacts mounted horizontally, implying a rear PC Card. The failure mode is there are audiophile XLR style connectors with oversize pins. Once they spread the fork contact the connector is ruined for all but oversize pins.
