Couldn't resist. Solid, interesting enclosure, 4.5" full range driver, $20 AU. From a decent little Yamaha micro system.

It’s only “retail therapy” if it’s ridiculously expensive. Those don’t seem to be, if you got them from Radio Electric Supply. What vintage are those, any indication?

I’m sure it does mean 43 or 53 - but I don’t know which. Since it was an older type, I wondered if you got some that were older than mine. These $5 12SL7’s were in with the latest batch I got from RES - 1944 WW2 surplus.
And the SN7’s were a little weird - RCAs with some sort of shield inside? Maybe carbon to dissipate heat? They work - just never seen this before. I’ve gotten NOS RCA 12SN7’s before (from Stan) and they were just a regular clear bottle. |
