In regards to the idea of Mouser stocking diyAudio products, that’s an interesting one, I like it :) However speaking from experience with dealing with selling on Amazon for another one of my projects I can tell you that dealing with those big corporations is really nasty. The terms they make you agree to our not for the faint hearted and not really suitable for boutique, small batch runs of things which is what we are specialising in.

It isn't a box opening fee. None of the very many shipments I have had from US sellers over the years have been opened. I was, and is, called a "Clearance Fee" adding UKP10 to the cost - it is essentially just additional revenue for the shipping agent (Parcel Force, etc). It is a real financial imposition, particularly if the VAT is only (say) UKP1, and you end up paying UKP11.

Regarding Mouser, their Europe fulfillment centre is in Germany. So they do not come all the way from the US. Which is why orders show up only a couple of days later. I'm a great fan of Mouser.

Thanks for that feedback Craig. The price and name of the fee and whether it actually involves opening the box varies from country to country, based on what I have read from customers over the years in the store’s helpdesk. I can tell you that German customs is particularly fond of hunting through boxes looking for anything that isn’t CE compliant, which is one of the reasons why we now offer the ACA with a CE compliant EU power cord option :)

Craig, Mouser does ship form US to Lithuania. FedEx tracking always showed me the all the way form GRAND PRAIRIE, TX to MANSFIELD, TX to FORT WORTH, TX to MEMPHIS, TN to ROISSY CHARLES DE GAULLE CEDEX FR to WARSAW PL to VILNIUS LT. And this particular one took just 3 days in travel! (and some 2 days in preparation before that)!

I love Mouser!

Not to say that about DigiKey - my first (and last) order with them cost me 67 Eur in VAT and customs fees on 163 Eur order - thanks, never again...

Curious - did you get a breakdown of your EUR67 fee? I assume 21% LT VAT (EUR34.23) is half of it...

I will say this - international shipping is hard. But we're committed to making it fast and affordable and will keep chipping away at the problem for as long as it takes.

Jason, yes 34 Eur is VAT (no problem with that) and another 33 Eur was the "customs intermediation" (box opening) from the courier company selected by DigiKey (that I do not have a choice about).

Mouser and FedEx never charge that.

And thanks for your good efforts to lower the shipment fees from diyAudio. I will have to check that next time.

I ordered with the digi key twice and I paid 23% VAT each time. Recently, however, I had to translate the invoice for the UPS agency, explain for what purposes I bought capacitors, etc. They kept the shipment for over a week. I wrote to the polish customer service of digi key with an intervention because I was afraid of additional fees despite the clearly marked ddp option. Fortunately, everything ended happily.
Maybe it would be a good idea to extend the cooperation of the store with modushop / hifi2000 in Europe? Availability of the diyaudiostore assortment where we buy chassis ?

I am trying to order the JFET's for the ACP+ and not sure which of the P channel quads to order.

P Channel Quad, preferentially the 6-8mA option.

Also, am I able to purchase the J113's as well? I purchased a partial kit from someone and need all of the JFET's

Sorry, we don't sell the J113s except those included in the ACP+ parts kit.

We are slowly moving towards a store configuration where all PCBs sold in the store will include the hard to find / match bits, currently in a transition phase.

Yes, there is a rough ETA on the back panel kits from our supplier of "a few weeks", but that has been the case for quite a while. Apparently one of the parts has been difficult to get ahold of, global supply chains are really strained at the moment with many parts having 4-5 month lead times and ports/customs delays.

We are acutely aware of the inconvenience this is causing people who would like to complete their kits using Deluxe Chassis. We are pushing our supplier as hard as we can to get these ready to ship. Unfortunately currently we don't make these in-house. We're as pained as you are, and therefore this is a problem that will need to be addressed once we have the capacity to do so. Thank you for your patience.

As someone who builds electronics for a living (on the business, not purely technical side...I oversee the supply chains), it is VERY bad right now.

Not only can you not get things, but shipping is jammed up as well. There are parts I used to commonly get on the open market, or with a 'short' wait, and some of these are 6-12 months, if at all (vendors are prioritizing high-demand, important stuff, and some of the quirky fun stuff is put on the back burner).

It will get better, hopefully in the next 3-12 months.

That is absolutely true. All sorts of vanilla parts from OnSemi etc are on Dec 21 and early 22 delivery now. And many capacitors, particularly surface mount, are on massive lead times too. Processor chips have dried up to the extent that they cost five times the nominal price (because bulk users have stocked up - for example PC and automotive manufacturers).

I am waiting for my customer to return a B1 preamp to me that has terrible ringing/microphonics according to him. When it left my shop, all was quiet, so is there the possibility that a tube could be damaged in some way to start the trouble? If so, can I return it as defective?
