PCB for 6080/6AS7 tube headphone amp
Default PCB for 6080/6AS7 tube headphone amp

I made a PCB for the RH6080HE, based on Alex Kitic design.
RH Amplifiers: RH6080HE (Headphones Edition)

PCB's cost me $10 per unit from PCBway (5 qty).
I have 4 unused PCB's and one populated.
Brief tests were done on the populated PCB, they look to be working well. I will perform some more tests later today.

Price for blank PCB is $15 including shipping and PayPal fees
Price for populated PCB is $40 including shipping and PayPal fees

Note-- I had one potential concern with the heat from the 9W resistors in proximity to the coupling caps. Overall I think this is OK but perhaps mounting them on the opposite side away from components is better. The coupling caps are WIMA FKP (film & foil). Octal socket is for Belton only.

Note2-- Alex's projects are for DIY, non-profit, not-for sale use. I am offering these PCB's at cost back to the DIY community for personal use only.

Hey Itsik,

You are tempting me too! But I’ll wait till you are done with the “verification build”. What are we going to do regarding the output transformers. Looks like you’re hooked up to Transcendental transformers in the photo, but I thought they are not taking orders anymore. Getting trannies from Heyboer, like the designer did?

Those Transcendar's are for an EL84 SE build... but I had them around so they were used for testing.

I probably won't go with dedicated HP taps. I've found that 5K:16 (and even 5K:8) has enough power for most headphones.
With or without a load resistor, both work well.

For this build, I'll probably go with Edcor (The CXSE 5W should be enough, or perhaps the GXSE15) or Transcendar if he's back.

It will probably take me time to get a finished build with this, I'm moving homes and have a few other in-progress projects I'd like to finish first.
What kind of tests are you looking to see? In the mockup the amp was playing music nicely.
I can run it through ARTA as well to get THD and FR figures

No specific tests; I thought you were planning more tests. I was just waiting for you to report

So, you are happy with the boards/amp’s performance? What impedance headphone are you using?

Yea, I ended up having a really busy day/week.

I used an old iPhone (which still has 3.5mm output) with Sennheiser HD650 (300ohms) and it sounded nice (nothing noticeably flawed)... but obviously not any critically listening done in that setup.

I'll run it through the spectrum analyzer soon so we get an idea of THD, frequency response and max output.
