I am selling my DAC as we are moving. It is fully assembled and working with a Raspberry Pi running Volumio, it’s set up as an i2c DAC with a switchable coaxial SPDIF x 4 input so is ready to become part of a system with little to no extra work.

ES9038 Buffalo-IIIsePro 2-Channel DAC w/Full Series Regulator Set (cost £390)

Consists of
(1) Buffalo-IIIsePro32 (ES9038) 2-Channel DAC Module (Assembled and Tested)
(1) AVCC-SR Dual 3.6V Series Regulator Module (Assembled and Tested)
(2) TridentSR 3.3V Series Regulator Module (Assembled and Tested)
(1) TridentSR 1.3V Series Regulator Module (Assembled and Tested)
[1] Mercury v1.1 Kit plus [1] Placid HD BP Power Supply Kit cost £220
[2] LCDPS assembled and working fine cost £85 for two
[1]4:1 Mux/Demux Digital Switch Kit (cost £20) plus
[1] 4-Position Selector Switch Kit that Connects to the 4:1 Mux/Demux with included cable/connector cost £10
[3] Transformers (£65 for all three)

extras
[1] Raspberry Pi Model 3 £35 with an SD card included
[1]Touch Screen £50
IEC Power and boot (trivial something or other)
Custom panels (cost me £200)
wood and feet £40
Hardware £100 or so.
Single Ended RCA and Balanced XLR Connectors

I am asking £800 for the entire build, that basically covers the cost of the entire twisted pear parts as if they were bought new (less shipping and import) for you to break for your own project and you get the panels, touch screen and hardware listed in extras added for free. If you just want the buffalo dac and power supplies I can sell that for £700 on the tray which is still a big saving on a complete and working dac especially as I paid a kings ransom in import duties.

It was a pleasure to build.

So people have been asking if I will sell bits off, the answer is yes.

DAC and Regulator Set = £300
Placid PSU and Mercury IV stage = £190 (please note these assembled and tested and Twisted Pear is out of Stock on the Mercury and the Mercury is the only IV stage that works with this)
LCDPS High Current edition PSU is £35each (I have two)
Each Transformer is a Nuvotem Traffo for each PSU approx £12 each

make me an offer on the other bits. I don’t want to sell the case off as parts. I”ll take £200 for the case with Pi and Screen panels and all hardware as a whole.

Some people have asked about the panel configuration so I have added some internal and back photos people wanted to see if the insides was a rats nest, no I route stuff as best as a Buffalo DAC allows.

The only thing I never really got round to doing was routing light pipes out from the Kali LED to the front panel, but there is a capability to install an Allo Isolator and an Allo Kali (for even more over the top digital clean streaming) - i highly recommend adding Kali and Isolator to the PI. I did it for a while and there is capacity in the power supplies to allow that with two spare halves of the LCDPS power supplies not being used (barrel plugs and ready made cables are included).

There is a sheet cover for the top but I tend to run it topless because I was always fiddling around with the insides witdip switch settings for filters and swapping in and out Kali and isolator boards. I recommend a grille because of all the shunt regulators but fixings and a lid are included, just not fitted.

Other ideas are to add a pair of icepower ASP amps to the side walls and convert it into an all in one digital amp and streamer with Volumio touch screen interface.

The rear panel has from left to right

2 x XLR (Balanced) Outs
2 x RCA (Single Ended) Outs
2 x Blanking plates “For future expansion” (drilled for neutrik panels)
4 x USB I/O breakouts to back of Pi (upper row)
4 x SPDIF Coaxial Inputs (can be replaced with RCA)
Ethernet Breakout to Back of Pi
HDMI breakout to Side of Pi
On Off Power
IEC Fused mains inlet (240VAC)
