Need help picking sub - new guy here

Its better not to overthink things.

Some people or average listening levels might only be 85 to 89 dB
and " loud" levels might only be 90 to 97 dB.

I don't see a need to mismatch cabinet type and speaker type.

Keep things nice and simple and use a powered 15" sub with features that easily
integrate to your existing system. most of the do, pretty basic. getting signal to them
and the usual built in active crossover.

Since it is a large space its simple. Start with powered 15" unit.
If you want more, then add a second matching 15" unit.

Its just that simple.
I have had some pretty wild party houses in the past. And just a simple powered
12" sub in the the house really rocked the place.

Step that up to 2x powered 15"...ohh boy.
Then again at low levels, it would be nice clean deep bass.
Another trick is to place the sub directly behind your theatre seating/ couch
and the rumble is right there where you sit, you dont have to power a big room.
