Hey guys, this is my first subwoofer build, I'm looking for some clean deep lows that will suit my living room. 7ft x 7ft.

The Peerless SLS 830677 is what I had in mind as its available for around 5k INR in my region.

Attached my design from Box - Port II . pelase correct me on this entirely new to this, came into this design after a day of research.

Did you factor in Room Gain? Having a Butterworth alignment with a 26 Hz Fc will almost certainly result in over emphasized, boomy low end, especially in a smaller room. I usually go with a "Q" of .5 to .6 and a Fc around 30 to 40 Hz or so, that way you get more natural sounding low end response, and it's less demanding of the woofer.

Oh actually the room is lil big that 7x7 as its open to the hall at one end. Which peerless driver would you suggest? also total Q factor right?

For a bass reflex PEERLESS SLS-P830667, VB = 86.0 L, FB = 30.0/32 Hz looks good. If you have the port dimensions already.
No, I don't have the port dimensions, actually confused about how I should decide the port. Can you help?

To be frank little crazy about ported enclosures, it gives the most out of the driver right?

Really?! HR shows a huge peaking at Fb, requiring an Av = Sd vent to get a reasonable vent mach at 30 Hz, making PR or TQWT alignments the only reasonable options.

With Vb = Vas tuned to the driver's 0.707x Fs [~30 Hz] practical limit, it can be reduced somewhat [~3.75"/9.52 cm dia.], but still long enough to require a shelf vent for a reasonable box ratio; ditto the pioneer's Vas/1.44 tuned to Fs optimal gain BW Vs net box size, though tuning may be too high for the intended app.

Re power requirements, if this low a tuning is used, the driver's 90 W rating is the limit down low, though with so much Xmax, hope it's a misprint as the pioneer's alignment 'wants' at least a 300 W amp.

The port dimensions can easely be calculated. Usually we like to know if it's going to work at max. power (home theatre) or at low volume like home relaxed listenings. Do you have or What amp are you planning?
Im looking for more power in the lows - yeah with the home theater. Regarding the amp Looked at few plate amplifiers but not finalized yet, do you have any specific suggestions for me.

Thanks for the detailed information, so this design isn't efficient?
Can you please suggest me a good solution

PEERLESS SLS-P830667 v2015, VB = 86.0 L, FB = 32.0 Hz, 87.3dB/2.83V/m (@0 green line)
Reflex 86L net, 32Hz: 2x Ports (20cm apart) 9.4 cm diam/39.4 cm lenght
Consider the extra volume for ports on the speaker volume.
HighPass 25Hz for protection @Xmax, good for ~130W/8 Ohms (32Hz).

You're welcome!

How efficient?

Increased efficiency requires bigger boxes and/or more expensive driver and/or multiples of inexpensive ones. Build [2] SLS-P830667 driver subs = +3 dB, [4] = +6 dB, [8] = +9 dB, [16] = +12 dB, etc..

'Speed' costs, so how 'fast' can you afford to go. ;)

Solutions with Peerless only (you don't give more details):
1. Peerless by Tymphany SLS-250S38CP00-04 10" Paper Cone Woofer 4 Ohm
10" Paper Cone PEERLESS SLS-250S38CP00-04, VB = 75.5 L, FB = 23.0 Hz, F-12 dB 19 Hz

2. Peerless by Tymphany SDS-160F25PR01-08 6-1/2" Paper Cone Woofer Speaker
6-1/2" Paper Cone PEERLESS SDS-160F25PR01-08, VB = 41.1 L, FB = 27.3 Hz, F-12 dB 22 Hz

3. Peerless by Tymphany 830869 8" Nomex Cone HDS Woofer
8" Nomex Cone PEERLESS HDS-P830869, VB = 37.3 L, FB = 30.1 Hz, F-12 dB 27 Hz

4. Peerless by Tymphany XXLS-P835016 10" Black Aluminum Cone Subwoofer 4 Ohm
10" Black Aluminum Cone PEERLESS XXLS-P835016, VB = 44.4 L, FB = 22.7 Hz, F-12 dB 19 Hz
Note: (100W-150W) Port size is related to max power with 2 options
A) HT (relaxed listening, 106-ref. 107.8dB/m)
2x ports
Center distance : 12.5 cm
Diam : 5.7 cm L: 62.0 cm
B) PA (more power, ref. 108.7dB/m)
1x port
Diam : 9.4 cm L: 83.7 cm

5. TARKUS OPTION
Peerless by Tymphany 830668 10" Paper Cone SLS Subwoofer
Note: also good for sealed speaker

Thanks, planning to start with one SLS 830677 - 830688 also looks like a good option but bit costly

Peerless 830677(8inch) and 830688(10inch) are available in my region so let me start with 677

Thanks for the detailed ingo and plot, can you suggest me a simple drawing where I should place the port on the original design I came into. Also the port dimensions.

PEERLESS SLS-P830667 v2015, VB = 86.0 L, FB = 32.0 Hz, 87.3dB/2.83V/m (@0 green line)
Reflex 86L net, 32Hz: 2x Ports (20cm apart) 9.4 cm diam/39.4 cm lenght
Consider the extra volume for ports on the speaker volume.
HighPass 25Hz for protection @Xmax, good for ~130W/8 Ohms (32Hz).
So I can go forward with my original box dimensions? ie 18inx18inx25in depth. Should I add two ports?

Yes 2 ports 20cm apart (c2c). If you need different dims for ports they can be recalculated for your APP.
Interesting also if you test a sealed speaker from your project with same dimension (86L)+/- and no ports. Is going to give you and excelent response to 23 Hz (F12/free air) with Room and amp 30/50 W 8ohms.
