Question Ciare 18SW Bass Driver use in a BIG Sealed Box?

Looking around there are very few 18" Bass drivers that seem suitable for sealed box use, perhaps this one fits the bill? An odd set of parameters though.

Ciare 18SW

Ciare 18.00SW - 18" Subwoofer

This one that is ideal, The McCauley 6174 but is not available in the UK if at all?.

Looking for UK available alternatives which would work in a sealed enclosure.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Pretty much anything will "work" in a sealed box. What sort of performance are you hoping for?

Thanks for your reply.

20Hz or better in room performance is the target, and a 2-300 litre enclosure is not a problem so the device will be big.

I will be building a pair

Well, here's what a pair of sealed 8"s does in-room:

(SPL not accurate)

You don't need big drivers and boxes to get low into the bass, but you do need those things if you want to go loud.

Yes worked out that I might get away with 15" at a push, but 18" will be needed to produce the output I require.

Fair enough.
Got any signal processing, and how much amplifier do you have?

Not UK, just a frame of reference; at the allowable net Vb, these will 'loaf' along with little power required, though with plenty of dynamic headroom built in if later desired: HS-24 mkIII 24″ Subwoofer – Stereo Integrity

Crunching the numbers on WinISD for a ported type, (their recommendation at EBP of 65)....I get a much more extended bottom-end.
Internal volume, 188 Liters
Tuned frequency, Fb, 28.9 hertz
Port, 200mm diameter, 440mm long
-3.06 Db @ 25.95 hertz ....
A much more functional & accurate portrayal of low frequencies...

People up one side & down the other will be saying, a sealed enclosure is superior...trotting out many adjectives, like "tighter"...blah, blah blah, often without documentation to back it up...& likely those differences are beyond our hearing capabilities anyway.
