would a 6th order vented box tuned 45 Hz sound good?

say using Eminence's kappa 12a - how might it sound subjectively? (the HP might be moved a bit closer to the peaking)

Depends on integration to the next driver, room acoustics and placement, etc.

It'd probably sound fine. Missing the last word of LF extension, but depending on your listening habits etc, you might not mind that much.
I'd decrease the filter Q a little so you don't get the bump before rolloff, but the in-room frequency response is so dependent on the room that I'd recommend measuring it in-situ for optimal results.
For a portable system, make it flat and hope for the best at each venue.

I'd like a large "bookshelf" 3-way speaker with 12" - 6" and tweeter - basically a knockoff of the old Cerwin Vega "S-1 LOUD" owned 36 years ago. They had an inline little box for the underdamped 2nd order highpass filter.

more punch is welcomed - but how to stuff into a "monkeybox" ?

I might have to do it with Dayton PA310-8 12" (34 liters sims nice for published and unaltered qts)
- dunno what to use for a midrange but do have a pair of Delta Pro8a

Cerwin Vega S-1 6th order reflex with gas bag from the 1970's

I laughed at these when had them but they would play loud and a knockoff
would be fun in my old age.
