it ought to be "fudge-able" (?) can't find a good drawing of the Kick15 to see its throat area. Cubo Kick seem to get a lot of praise from their builders and like to see how they compare in sim to other approaches

Then you can use this picture to calculate the "open area" (the baffle is 47.6 cm on the long side)

Thank you very much Johan. I see now the throat from the overlapping baffles is 18cm high (?) What would happen if the throat was "reversed" putting it closer to the apex of the chamber? (I assume worse results)

I got 54 liters from the statement saying something like 40% reflex/60% horn ;^)

If I understand you correctly, apart from the driver surround and cone hitting the throat plates above a couple millimetres Xmax, a smaller throat chamber. A smaller throat chamber is going to add a bit of usable range at the top end in exchange for a bit less output at the horns bottom end. In this case, it's a win-win not to do it

Funnily enough that picture shows a pre-publshed design state of the Cubo Kick series. Ultimately it was aborted to prevent too much uneven cone loading (especially on high power).

It's a picture from someone who deviated from the original plan (I've got some questions about it before).

Thanks Johan - do you think Cubo Kick15 would work as a midbass unit for home use? - my crude original sim says its probably better than the old JBL "Harkness" back loaded horn (which is saying a lot - - I'd like to see you tackle a new Karlson)

Hi Freddy, to be honest Cubo Kick 15 is designed with maximum performance between 80 - 200 Hz in mind, I simply do not know how it will sound above ~250 Hz.
