Worth it using 3" thick wood for subwoofer enclosure?

Hi. I am trying to design and build a 12" subwoofer enclosure. EVerything is almost ready, I just have some doubts related to the wood thickness. I know that 3/4 MDF is a very good size. My question is if is it worth it going for 1 inch thick or even more crazy, 2 or even 3 inches thick. I have a lot of wood and that's not a problem, as my design evolves layers, I can give the thick that I want. I was willing to experiment with that factor, but does anybody here knows something about this? thanks.

No. Crossbracing (between opposite walls) is more effective and uses less wood.

That being said if you have the extra wood, it won't hurry anything to double over some of the larger panels.

I us a double baffle all my subwoofer builds at the very least

Hi,

3" is completely OTT, and just makes the sub pointlessly a
lot bigger. Effective bracing is a far more sensible approach.

Never mind the tunnel you create with that thick of a baffle. 2-layer CLD (18mm or 3/4" is more than enough per layer) + a lot of bracing = happiness.

It depends if you want to be able to move it easily.
I usually use 18mm plywood with 2" by 2" bracing.
Anywhere on the plywood with more than 6 inches is braced with 2 by 2 as well.

A 3/4" x 3" brace on edge is stiffer than either a 2 x 2 (or a 2 x 4 on the flat side).
