cable gauge to build Neutrik Speakon

If you do decide to change the cable, it is very simple as the neutrik connector is very easy to take apart and there are simple screw terminals. These connectors are designed to carry line voltage at low frequency and as such are not very fussy. They are used as highly reliable power connectors on a lot of professional gear.

The speakON connectors are used for speaker connections. The powerCON is for power. Neutrik says specifically to not use the speakON for power connections. Attached is from the NL4FX 4-pole speakON technical specs.

It may be worth noting that this is a "necro" thread, and the first new post in five years is #17 asking about pinout.

It's also quite confusing, as it's hard to imagine a Speakon connector being used for the line-level input of an amplifier (in a powered subwooder).

On the other hand ... Looking at this REL Quake subwoofer manual (requires login/email, but it's a good resource), it indeed shows a Speakon connector as an input. The cable supplied has a Speakon connector at one end, and three conductors, for Left, Right and Ground to connect to a 'main' power amplifier output. Presumably this connection won't work properly if the 'main' amplifier's output is bridged, but there's no mention of bridged.
