Hi Art,

By Jesperino, Post #1040:

Regards,
Perhaps a porno block kept Jesperino's phallic exit shape from "coming" on my computer screen.

IIRC, I did test the variant Jesperino chose, but the Keystone shape I tested and determined to be optimal was based on audio, not visual measurements.

The reduction of fasteners on Jesperino's units compared to the Keystone may be a concern, but the audio results between the phallic variant and the original Keystone Sub exit were minimal, so "whatever turns you on" :sax:

Cheers,

Art

That whole post cracks me up but for some reason I find the sax the funniest!

Plan to try the phallic variant on the B-low? :D

How did it sound with those extensions?

Could you feel/hear a big difference??

Looking good (Y) :)

And what tops are those?

Thanks!

This was the first time I run them with extenders, and as we encountered a bit of electricity problems(we blew what seemed to be a 3x16 amp cee form circuit and had to run the whole soundsystem off a single 10A/230v) I did not dare to run at full throttle so I could not really get a grasp whether and how much they gave. The system however delivered plenty of SPL from a single 10A phase.

The tops are BFM DR280, great cabs!

FINALLY!!!! got mine built.
I'll try to get some pics.
HOLY COW.
I powered them with the speakerpower.net SP1-4000HT, and DAMN did they sound incredible!
Used the 8 OHM B&C 18TBW100, for a dance party show this past weekend, and the bass was incredible.
As Art had instructed elsewhere, I did a Butterworth 24 HPF at 30 hz, and LPF at 90 hz via my DBX Driverack.
We put Mackie SA1521z as tops, and the amount of bass coming out of those subs was enough to rattle stuff off the walls in the barn we were in.
(tin walls and roof)
I'm going to build 2 more as soon as I can get the money up again, which shouldn't take long, since EVERYONE who has heard these now has been hitting me up: "Hey man, can we use your DIY Subs for the next party?" "Hey man, when you bringing them subs back out?"
LoL.
The woodworker we subbed with put wheels and a handle on these beasts, so now, me, the skinny old man can load/unload like the young ones...
Amazing work, can't wait to add 2 more.

Poison Pen,

I crossed my Keystones at 100 Hz.
Glad you are happy with yours.

:spin:
Should have clarified, the HPF at 30hz was your recommendation, the LPF was my own "addition" lol.
Either way, these cabs are beasts, and I'm hoping to get 2 more post Tax Return 2017, OR!!!! SOONER!!!!! if the people around here REALLY put their money where their mouth is and actually pay me what they owe...

I like the "kick" in the keystones and cross them at 106, beasts they are :) how many volts u givin your tbw100-8? I've tried limiting at 95-96 volts with my 18sw115-8 for 2 hours, after warming them up with 75 volts for 3 hours, no problems! Gonna probably try 95 volts a whole night when the electricity situation allows it next time

Sine143 suggestion's of a SP8000 is a bit light on peak potential, I'd go with the Speakerpower SP12000. Speakerpower makes some very nice amps.

My preference would be an amp that can deliver 3000 watts peak.
Lots of discussion previously starting around post #810.

So I ended up going with the QSC PL380. A smidge more power than the SP8000 but less than the SP12000.

Figure I can run peaks just under clip with dynamic material and not really worry too much.

What are favorite tops to sit on say 4 Keystones based on the B&C 18 ? I am not a fan of rear facing tub based tops... more or less direct radiating is my preference....

I run K12's over kw-181's at the moment. 2 K12's are sub-optimal in splay array... The K series stuff rents well...

Looking to step up a notch or three...

I use these -

sound is stunning....and they also use B&C drivers.
