First Tapped Horn Design - PA

Hello All, my first post here.
So I have been messing around with Hornresp trying to get my head around the intricacy that is horn design and I think I have come up with what I would think would be a decent horn for PA use. Of course there is probably something wrong with the design so please have a look and see what you can see.

not very good spl for a p.a. horn, it's 400 liters, and only around 95db sensitive.
extension is deep though, but you'll run out of xmax at not so high volume.

don't sim in 0.5 pi either. use 2.0pi

Welcome to the forums.

For PA use, it would be better to target 40Hz than 30Hz. Going that bit lower requires a bigger cabinet, but you're unlikely to use the extra extension.

Depends on how serious the place you are using it is about LF exstension. Ministry of sound has a PA system thats about 155dB @ 30Hz. But to achive that they have enormous horn loaded stacks and many many multi KW amplifiers.

If your happy with a 400 litre size for a PA cabinet maybe you should look at screamerusa's Tapped horns

Thanks for the input guys, would this sub be better? Also what would be a good SPL to aim for from say 40-100hz?

that looks good, but i guess the description of the speaker is wrong ? etone 1020 is a 10 inch and you put in an sd of 490cm2 ? that's the sd of a 12 inch.

Well that was a major brainfart, makes a bigger difference than I thought as well. Looks like it is back to the drawing board.
