Post your Solid State pics here

My Amp Camp Amp build. Etched boards I made from a thread on this site done by Rudi Ratlos. Repurposed cherry wood veneer from a can that stood outside for more than a year. I am extremely happy with the sound of this amplifier.

Then my Main speakers, Onkyo SC 90 MKII 12" drivers, Seas FM-10 mids, and 1" titanium dome tweeters. Side edges need to be rounded with a nice largish curve, and then veneer applied. h, still need to get speaker spikes as well.

It looks like lockdown is certainly getting those projects done! Looking good.

Very true. I’ve done three already.

1 - Finished a UX-171A DHT preamp
2 - Some 1st order Xover for my 12” Beyma concentric speakers
3 - Built a CMoy style HP portable amp to use up some lithium batteries I’ve had for a while.

It sounds like you thankfully had all the parts. :)

I modified my 4 channel amp (own design) to get rid of noise and hum, and I got rid of my center channel's hum too, so now I have a silent system. During this lockdown, I'm going to finally rewire my big stereo amp to get the wiring neat and my power conditioner in (which I also finally finished in lockdown). :) In fact, it's solid-state related, so I've attached a pic.

It uses an NTC thermistor to limit inrush current, and then it has a little circuit which runs off mains to turn on a relay to short out the thermistor after a few hundred milliseconds. It has some surge protection just to filter out any mains spikes, and then a DC blocker circuit. I pulled some info from ESP for this one.

The junkyard dog and the junkyard puppy. The “AC300A”, a big single supply amplifier based not so loosely on the Crown DC300A. Made from an old 80V 8A Triad transformer, 3 ancient but re-formed soup can caps, and old 2N3773/6609 outputs and drivers on heat sink stock that had been sitting in the rafters of my shop for years. Made entirely from stuff on hand during the lockdown. PCB is a perfboard. Followed by its little bother, the KM42. Similar to the Apex 50 watt retro amp, but with a few improvements. Triple emitter follower output stage (not even complementary pair, but they are NPN/PNP - just used what I had) and beta enhanced VAS.

OMG those are some old caps! Are they still in good shape after all these years? I thought using 1989 caps would be considered iffy....

Old caps if they are not used are still good shape, of course they can be replaced if they didn t perform well, I buld an amp from components I had, there are on each chanell board 10caps which are providing extra capacitance for old Sangamo capacitors....
