Post your Solid State pics here

This one looks good. I think, we're going to test one of those. After all, that's what many pro-grade stage amps are: SMPS + class D. Plus controlled fans. However - no fans in the home audio, please :)
And that is only 2005 - 2008 controller chip technology.

After 2010 active PFC , active frequency smps's with 95% eff. even at low power
levels are possible.

The designs are all centered around the features of the controller. Simple 8 pin
controllers will give "dirty" harmonic rich square wave switching.
NPX "greenchips" will be more complicated , but give sine based flyback
with variable frequency control , audiophile plus !!
Use ultralow Rdson mosfets , almost no heat and super clean rails.
Here is a 2018 design - way beyond even the Connex.

PS - the way of my new sub - SMPS 300w + a 200w class D = no heatsinks , inside the enclosure cooled
by the port flow. L/R will be SMPS + class AB/G "oldschool" amps.

I'm wondering if it is what Cresnet is currently doing with his SMPS line?

Amplifier for the proportions of the "golden ratio".
Naked Danish can remove "piramidon".
Piramidon made from mineral shungite:

Wow ! power wise , operator 16's amp would "wipe the floor" with the last 10 pages
of solid state projects combined.
Almost a DIYA Lab gruppen .

I see the PFC mosfet + the 2 flyback ones. That SMPS would not be affecting
the mains ,even at 1kw+. And just a few Kuf output will result in smoother rails
than a 100Kuf linear.
Damn , all this coming out of a little pyramid !!

Amplifier is a very small pyramid. It is a revolutionary building and high-tech scheme. Plus power supply with pfc.
Amplifier in the pyramid class A + AB (this is not d class), which includes several dozens of new technologies - 4-layer PCB, smd, rf topology, complete symmetry, thermal stabilization of modes and much more.
The amplifier can work on 1 ohm speakers.
Amplifier power 2x300w / 8 ohm, 2x600w / 4 ohm - RMS.
Pyramid cooling is passively active. When the case is heated to 45 degrees Celsius, a fan is turned on in the pyramid's vertex. At high power, the body can heat up to 55 degrees Celsius and this is normal. (sorry english is not native).
In the photo, the pyramid is tested with different acoustic speakers. there is a risk of damage to weak speakers, you need to be careful with the signal level.
The shape of the pyramid in the shape of a "golden section" works very well for cooling. An air flow occurs inside the enclosure that cools the printed circuit boards through the ventilation openings. Well give heat to the inclined outer edges of the pyramid. Body shape chosen specifically for good cooling with a small size.

The new amps sound like a pretty cool design! AB/G sounds interesting! I like modern technology if it's applied properly, unfortunately most applications seem to be cutting corners to save a buck lately.

They all try to save a buck. (or 2).

3 levels -

1-8$ ebay switcher , (below 1). Better keep it in a faraday cage , it will kill
bluetooth and wifi otherwise. Scope the mains , you will see how "dirty"
it is under load. LED bulbs and other cheap Chinese plugins are even worse ,
AM radio's will not work too good in a modern "smart" home.

BTW - the 8$ switcher trafo can be rewound to make a 5A 35-0-35V supply
for another 5$ (i did that).:D

2-PC supply - Corsair (below 2)
PFC + regulation + more safety features. Not all are like this , NO-name OEM
(or EVGA) .... garbage !!! NOPE !
Some will even burn out the PWM on your expensive motherboard or kill a whole house wifi with RF garbage,

3-TOP level = PFC , variable freq , low rdson fet's , regulation , sine wave
flyback operation .
Preferable for audio , these have a more advanced (forward converter/current
sense - second attachment) ,running better mosfets. You won't see the load
on the mains .... they truly replace (and out-perform) , the analog.
IF - you get ANAL on the discrete sourcing , it is possible to achieve safety
and longevity that would put any bulky analog to ABSOLUTE shame.

PS - a good quality used 500w PC supply can be turned into an audio supply for about
10$ in an hour.

Better start a new thread Ostripper - you will have plenty of interested parties. Maybe the mods can help here 'Ostripper SMPS+Class D' ?
