Last I checked KSA1220A/KSC2690A SOA was 220mA @50V and 90mA at 100V,

2SA1552 is 150mA @50V and 40 mA at 100V, this is decent but not as good, there
are many parts that are far worse.

2sa1930/2sc5171 only do 100mA@50V, 35mA@100V but are rated for 2A.

These have been talked about recently, but are TO-220 with very good SOA:
2SC4883A/A1859A - TO220-F 20W 180V 2A 30pF 120 MHz 300mA@50V 75mA@100V

These also are TO-220 with very good SOA:
2sa1837/2sc4793 -TO220 1A 20W 220mA@50, 85mA@100V

Next to look at is beta droop.

I bought 200 each of Bob Cordell's recommended VAS devices, the Sanyo 2SC3601 / 2SA1407 , just a few months before they were discontinued. Bob's got the original Sanyo datasheets available for download from his website. They're pretty nice: 200V, 400 MHz, 0.15A, 2.5pF. They were sort of expensive even while active production, when you could buy them from DigiKey, as I recall I paid $2.75 each in qty=200. Now it's a stash of course.

Those Sanyo 2SC3601 / 2SA1407 are nice for sure.
I wonder how much improvement in an audio amp if using 2SC3601 / 2SA1407 vs KSC3503 / KSA1381? Crap these designs are so good, I need a distortion magnifier to chart the thd's. I go by if I am measuring my Amber 3501 residual, it is more than good enough.
I just bought some more A1381 from Arrow, free shipping from NL to Canada. I also bought some genuine?Sanyo 2sa1381e/2sc3503e from polida on ebay, we shall see if they are any good.

We are stuck with what they give us. if you find it , it is old stock.
My thinking is the process is so well controlled, low deviations, part to part uniformity, unless they want to mess with the secret sauce :)
I do not think it matters a whole lot based on what I have been measuring with them, shaving ppm's? I wave my hand and the instrument reacts :)
if my brain was powerful enough, I'd modify the spice models, to model the process variations and see how it affects performance, but I am lucky I can't figure it out, so I do not have to try :)
