I want to use a Quad CD player (and preamp) as a stand-alone unit but it only has the Quad Link/Amp Bus connector on the rear.

There was a power supply advertised on Ebay a year ago but that has now disappeared.

Does anyone have the information regarding which of the connectors is for power and which is for the audio so that I can break-out the plug to the rear of the player?

Thanks
Andy

I'm not a Quad specialist but from what I've gathered, Quad uses balanced connections for audio and the components switch to the audio bus rather than pre-amp switching. There is a In & out connector on the back side for daisy-chaining like Sony uses in their MHC series.

If there is a power transformer inside, You just follow the traces to the connector. That will be Your mains power input. If there isn't a trafo, the amp sends perhaps +- pre-amp Voltage for the other units.

For audio, You have to measure witch a multimeter which of the other pins are connected to ground, and them the rest will be your audio. Please note there should be ins and outs on each connector, so 8 pins (balanced L&R In&Out). Follow the traces to op-amps.

So, that leaves us with 2 for power, 8+1G or 4G for audio=14. So pretty close.

There are some sites with schematics, but require registration, so perhaps they can help.
