Best 1-3W Amp for sensitive speakers?

I do have an old tube headphone amplifier. (2W) Can they directly be used as speaker amplifier, or are there some aspects I'm missing?
Also, how is clipping limited or such small amps powering much stronger speakers? As I understood it, a strongly underpowered amp can quickly destroy a speaker by clipping.

(It's rated at "only" 96 dB, BTW, but that still is fairly high for an 8" job.)
I have measured it with a UMIK and REW (in the Dallas II) and I got >98dB/W/m in a 4x4m room.

Impedance response would seem to be lending itself to outputs with non-negligible output impedance so this may be worth experimenting with.
I'm not sure I understand this, could you please rephrase what you mean?
The gently rising impedance means it is very efficient because?

Thanks.
