I have a Sony STR-7055 stereo receiver in mint condition and I need to substitute the two Sanyo SV-31 thermal compensator diode because on one of them both of the leads are broken.

My question is can I substitute it with a transistor connected as a diode as it would be easy to fit it on the heatsink? On my multimeter it doesn`t measure like any other diode. The multimeter shows 180 and regular diodes or transistors it usually shows 650-700. Only some Schottky diodes measure that low on a multimeter.

Thanks for the help!

I don`t think that sheet is accurate, especially since it is not a DO-7 package, it is a metal can. But what kind of diode has a Vdrop of 3.6V?

I`ve also found a thread on some forum that it is a varistor?

Also, here is the amplifiers schematic, maybe it will help.
