Cheers, that's really useful.

On ebay you can buy PCBs of both NPN and PNP versions of the JLH 1969 design, they are intended for TO-3P types, but I could work around that.

Or I could just build it on matrix board as it's quite simple.

I'll make a list of what Germaniums are in the bag I have.

There's always the Tobey and Dinsdale amp which was in Wireless World in 1961 here The Wireless World Archive an excellent 10w amplifier for its time.

Bias might want a look since Vbe for germanium transistors is 0.3 volts versus 0.7 V for silicon.
