What is the maximum supply voltage for your version of the 555 timer chip?
All my datasheets show Vsupply <= 18Vdc

Apex, are you expecting Boss to create a new LV supply from his 24Vdc supply, to power the timer chip?
Looks like you need to show Boss how.
No, I expect from boss to made descrite circuit (without NE555) with 24V relay.
Use DC voltage for protect same as ralay voltage or higher and add resistor in series with relay or use 2 relays in series with double DC voltage.
