My buddy said this sub amp almost caught on fire! The Amp is only about a year old with a 8ohm load/hookup.

The speaker(s) & amp are ruined, but he wants to get it working again.

Q. What's a good sub amp that doesn't cost a fortune? And one that he won't have to worry about the house burning down.

Even though the amp is fried, you should still be able to reuse the power supply and active filter, and just replace the amp board with something else, this saves some money you otherwise would need to spend on psu parts.

This assumes the original amp havent been thrown out already though.

Some good ideas, a fuse would have saved the sub woofer speakers.
(There are two in the box hooked in series)

I've bought 4 of the $100 plate amps over the years; only one is still going.

We finished this together last Nov, so it didn't last long (13 months)
