Say your output stage has a very high IQ for class A design (lets say 1 amp) but also has a low hfe of 80 (for example 2SC5200 STMicroelectronics | 497-10863-5-ND | DigiKey)
How do you go about driving this output stage without significant voltage drop (compared to an unloaded common emitter stage)? |

The driver should have low output impedance and ability to source current. Another emitter follower is the popular solution. a CFP can provide some advantages.
