How to determine max RMS input for given (commercial) Amp?

Hi All,

I would like to determine the max RMS input voltage for a Rotel RMB-100 Amp.

I do have the schematics and I guess that this is determined by the Input circuitry.

Could u kindly let me know what to look out for (like max. voltage smwing on Opamp with a given power supply voltage, etc.)?

Is this the way to go ?

If there is a volume control the max input may be set by supply rails, less some Vbe etc. drops, divided by the voltage gain to that point. If there is no volume control then do a similar calculation for the output stage. In either case this will give the max input before clipping. In some cases excessive distortion can arise from other issues before clipping.
