Rowland Research Model 3 Monaural

Hi to all. I have to repair my beloved Rowland Research Model 3 Monaural. Has failed the pilot module (black box resin) and I do not know how to fix it. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Hi elletronkio and hello to all of you,
I have the same issue with a Rowland Research Model 3 amplifier,
the signal processing module is defective like yours.
I know your posted this request 8 years ago, but now these amps

have also aged 8 more years and I'm convinced we won't stay the

only guys with this problem...
I already wrote three messages to Jeff Rowland Design Group

to get some help or information about repairs, but unfortunately I didn't

even get an answer from them, so any kind of information about

the circuit inside the modules it would be really helpful.

Interesting. I remember a review in Audio Magazine of the Model 7 from 1990. It had an encapsulated module. According to the review, the module has a folded cascode gain stage with zero global feedback, and JFET inputs. Hey, look. I found it. The internet is not just for porn. OK, this Jeff Rowland review is vintage amp porn.

many thanks for your reply !!! I never expected to get any info about the inside of these "black box" modules, so this is really great and makes me more enthusiastic to open the module with some careful brutality...
I think the epoxy will make it necessary to become a little cruel ...


I'll post some pics if it works without total destruction of the components inside.

Someone told me about some Rowland modules not being drowned in epoxy, but I never found any pics ...

So it's getting more and more possible to rebuilt the faulty circuit
