Shunt Regulator variations (Parallel voltage regulator variations) for SS Pre-Amp

The biggest advantage (in opposite to serial voltage regulators) is the fact, that the main capacity block works in parallel mode to the voltage supply input of the power puller (mostly RIAA head amps and line amps).
So far I've always thought, the topology is not very important, so long as the load to be supplied works in pure class-A (in line voltage amplifiers and in power amp front-end sections always be the case - this means no dynamic requirements like by Class-B power amps are to be considered), and so long the capacitor block in parallel of the regulator's output has lowest possible ESR. So far I have observed no abnormalities concerning the operating (like unwanted oscillation) and connerning the sonic quality by the use of easy topologies.

Nevertheless the question: My estimate is right or wrong?

And an additional question:
What is the best ratio of current flow ?
Until now I always thought 50:50 - i. e. one half from the whole current (determine by CCS) by load and one half by Zenerdiode or "power zener" in case of higher currents.

In the attachment you will find examples of very easy shunt regulators, basically only a serial mode from a CCS and a zener diode (resp. "Power Zener"). Sometimes an additional very easy serial voltage regulator as pre-screening.

Ever since the introduction of the three leg voltage regulator I have seen no reason to use anything else, the 317 sort is said to have the lowest noise, and this is lower than a Zener above about 6Volts anyway.

For applications where very low noise is called for the led referenced sort is still useful.
