How do you folk feel about running the input of the HB from a volume control IC, and then use a micro-controller ADC to monitor speaker voltage and reduce volume when the output gets within some margin of the rails?

Yes, of course. In old times I used a circuit like the one in Cordel's book.


So J1 is 24V relay's coil and S1 is the relay switch - am I right?
