That's actually the same circuit, Mr Bass Amp.... Any Sallen & Key type of filter would be fine, be it Butterworth, Chebychev etc but Linkwitz-Riley would probably offer best phase performance (hence my link to Linkwitzlab.com).

I'd advise 24dB/oct (4th order) to prevent any higher frequencies coming from the sub. The quality of components for a sub XO isn't too important IMO and just about any op-amp could handle 100Hz and lower. The NE5532 would be ideal.

Nice one,
David.

You can easily build a passive 3rd order crossover for less than a dollar with three resistors and three caps.

1. Put three 470 Ohm resistors in series, this will be the signal path.

2. After the first resistor, put a 3.3uf cap to signal ground.

3. After the second resistor put a 2.2uf cap to signal ground.

4. After the third resistor put a 1uf cap to signal ground.

This will make a 3rd order low-pass crossover @85hz.

For 1st order operation, use the signal at the first cap, for 2nd order use the signal at the second cap and so on. Since this is passive your amp should have decent gain.

:)

if it works good and satisfactory then its really great.
this network is to b used for line level signal or at the o/p of amp b4 sub?

for designing filters, go to www.download.com
download filterpro, design your own simple and custom filter of any order:)
