Maybe this thread should be the "book" ( if we keep objective
enough).
Too many have opinions on the sonics of their "favorite"
and clutter the threads with subjective BS.
A primer on the "basics" would be as good as self's book
introducing newcomers to simple topologies.

Hi Ted,
Amplifier design is a topic with so much knowledge required that it will take years to properly learn. You may be able to design things that work before that, but to get a real good understanding will take time. Just like any other branch of physics or engineering.
Douglas Self's book is a very good start, but not the entire story. Even early books from Crowhurst and others should be read.
Keep an open mind and experiment! As stated, there is a ton of great information here. Some very controversial, but that's fine. Learn to experiment and use your common sense.
