I'm following this thread (link below). There's very good info on whether or not replace "old" (but still good) transistors on vintage Japanese amplifiers...
to92 transistor replacement Many start all this by replacing the electrolytics first and, at a certain point, someone comes saying: "don't forget to replace that "x" transistor as well!!". A few times I followed the advise, then painfully regret it. The stock transistor in that 1977-78 amplifier was working very well actually. I like these threads because a lot of myths simply are smashed! P.S.: Of course, if the tranny is noisy and making problems, we replace it...
