I'm not trying to design a speaker from scratch, so I don't need a box simulator. I am trying to characterize existing speakers. Things like

* impedance
* distortion, and distortion vs spl
* impulse and frequency response, on and off axis

I have some experience with Room Eq Wizard - should I stick with that or try something else?

PS I was hoping to find a sticky that lists all the different measurement and design software out there and their pros/cons. Also I did try to search through existing threads but got overwhelmed and also new things come out all the time so I thought I'd ask again. Maybe there should be a sticky on this though - what do you think?

well, the "best" software is a problem or very expensive - ymmv
on the free side:
for me (and many) useful is : arta
and speaking just for me, also : Holm
but anyway, i want to make my own...if i have time and motivation..i will.
until now i use Holm.
and REW i tried, but -for me- its to much focused on room and overall response. to test just a speaker...i didnt like it.
