I want to share my on going project 5x6m backyard which now already have been built by professional workers. However i decided to DIY the finishing which is also to safe cost. current stage that basic work have been completed. this room is connected to my guest room 3x5m hence they make an L shape.

I use google images search and pinterest as my reference, combined with acoustic feature like absorber and diffuser.

- front wall (6x3m): bottom and top (50cm height) is limewash exposed brick, centre 1.8x1.8m with rockwool absorber panel and on left & right side 1m width with diffuser panel using bamboo cut
- left & right wall (5x3) half side : bottom with plywood bookshelf, same centre and front wall, the bamboo diffuser can be used by my children to store their hotweels :)
- since my wife wants to keep the kitchen in this room, hence half of right wall occupied by kitchen.
- left half wall : just get the sample from pinterest and looks millenial and has some diffuser function too.
- ceiling 3m height : stripped plywood which i expect will have function as diffuser, the concrete beam will be exposed.
- tv will be placed on front wall centre, someday might get a projector if the budget permit.

this will be a long project to finish, i would like to get any advice on the finishing option

my understanding is that back wall should be diffuse enough, commonly audiophiles use high priced diffuser but i make my own style.

there will be another bamboo stick as i sketch and it create a siluet of loudspeaker driver from side view.

behind spaced brick, i left another 3cm space. I might try some experimentation later to put fabric felt on that space or rectangle rock wool to fill the hole space.

because there is no plafond installed, it gives higher ceiling 3.3m. with 50cm conrete beam, 2.8m nett ceiling will be the final result, already have the sample design from japanese restaurant which looks great and also can act as absorber & diffuser.

yup that is manila hemp rope but it's expensive about $3 per meter for 32mm diameter, but once it's installed then you got totally different room than common audio/video room out there.

another sample for my reference for diffuser using bamboo. I might seem crazy about bamboo but it just because I have so many leftover after construction work completed hence I'm trying to build something usefull for my interior

my wife does not agree with bamboo interior because it wont last long, so i'm back with plywood. BAD panel seems interesting and finished 1 panel with 606x594mm dimension and 15mm hole size.

still another 15 panels to be completed to cover the back side area

Nail the sheets together tighly with rather short intervals, at places where you will later drill holes. When you are through with drilling, pull out the nails and drill the remaining holes. If the sheets aren't tighly packed, a lot of debris will accumulate. Don't forget to have a scrap piece beneath the bottom sheeet, -to avoid splitting on the backside. 2 rows of holes for 1 panel takes about 15 minutes to drill. Just take it easy with a coffe break now and then

Oh my! Did you drill that by hand?
Yup, my first try and took around 4-5 hours to complete, because i tried different version of work : drill stand, cordless drill, and last with corded drill. the best is using corded one due to extra torque provided. this must be as neat as possible because it will be used as the template. the next panel should be easier and faster. my back side area above exposed brick match into 1 sheet of plywood on each side, i think i will build another template for Inversed panel

I've been considering some BAD style panels for my living room. I love the look. Could you get away with stacking some of the panels to drill two or more at the same time? Just clamp the edges together so it doesn't slip around.
just tried 2nd panel before leaving to work and drill some holes and it's super easy to do, thanks to the clean template. with my drill bit depth, i think only 2 panels can be stacked at one time

indeed, this kind of work should be done with a peacefull of mind and no hurry :D

just completed my rack, utilizing 2x18mm plywood and 20mm steel rod with M12 thread. no finishing yet just dry fit temporarily, I'm still waiting for another set of threaded rod for 1 additional lower compartment because there several chassis have not been loaded yet

i'm using stainless cap nut for the feet, very cheap only $0.5 each compared to stainless spike which can cost around $6 for regular one, not those high end spikes :D

overall build fo this room is finished on first stage, all basic utilities have been installed. at the end it becomes family hub room instead of audio room :)

right side is kitchen area, left side is dining table where the table is my previous audio rack, i prefer no rack now. there are also 2 desk for my twin boys which also act as diffuser

i have build 60x60cm BAD panel, will build more. but where to put them is still not fixed yet, maybe above exposed brick or on the ceiling
