Class D beginner, where to start?
I'd like to make a PA amp fir a friend, and class D amps look nice for that. Not very expensive, small size, small heatsinks.
But I've never worked with class D, where should I start?
You should try something simple first! Self-oscillating topology with complementary MOSFET output would be fine.
I was more thinking about starting with the theory :D
How does it work, what topologies exist (the advantages and drawbacks of each), how to build one (which chips?)
Some kind of tutorial.
I've browsed some manufacturers websites, but didn't find much.
Linear: found ,othing
National: has 1 class D amp
Onsemi: nothing above 1W
TI: nothing above 20W
Kolla Harris/Intersil, possible also IR.
I must be blind, I found nothing on theyr websites (and don't know what kolla is) :(
There were posted many links recently.
And a "book":
Title: High Efficiency Audio Power Amplifiers; design and practical use
Author: Ronan van der Zee
(I loaded it down from intrnet, but don't know where.)
philips (TDA8920 2*80W PWM amp IC)
www.tripath.com (PWM controllers+drivers up to ~2kW)
Kolla, sorry a swedish word.... = check
kolla = kollationera = collate
Class D amps
If you're a beginner, first build an amp someone else designed. There are too many heart breaks in making the first amp you ever build one that you try to design. There are several good schematics available at www.schematicsforfree.mattsoft.net in the audio circuits section.
the "audio schematics and manuals" li,k doesn't work :(
