Kicker zx1500. 1 no output.

So the this Kicker came in. Power supply tests ok
The outputs all test OK as well. The inductor is loose on the pcb. This resistor is very swollen and I'll need to replace it.
The relay is not engaging. The power supply drive is present and good.
That cap is very swollen.

With no power applied, what's the resistance from the large output inductor to the negative speaker terminal?

Do you have rail-rail oscillation or DC voltage on the large output filter inductor?

1.5mohms and declining. When I first tested it it was almost 5mohm and now.0.771mohms....
And yes there is oscillation at the inductor

Do you have 12v across the diode next to the relay?

Yes 12.65v across the diode.

PapaZBill can tell you whether the diode is across the relay or not (I think it is). If it is, the relay should be engaging.

Is there audio at the speaker terminals (I assumed, not).

After I got the board free perry for that cap ect. I see why someone has destryored soldering for the relay.

As I thought I seen this before they broke and or ruined the trace to the pins of the relay I will haft to repair the trace connections to the relay.

Perry is right about the diode across the relay coil and if you are seeing ~12 volts across the diode the relay is being activated.

I don't recall seeing that kind of damage to the cap you have pictured. As long as the relay is good, repairing the traces and replacing the cap should be the fix.

If the cap was after the inductor, the inductor may be shorted (maybe intermittently).

Is the cap from C108-1nF 630V? This cap is just before the output inductor. Perrys suggestion may be valid and the inductor should be examined and tested for intermittent.

the inductor was very loose and the adhesive had failed so is was just moving around. I replaced the cap and fixed the traces. however, it likely to have not been engaging and that is why someone attempted to remove it.
I have repaired the trace and set the relay into place making the connections and it stiill didnt engage.
I cant see a imprint for the cap but it was 1.8K 400V i used one from a parts board i had.

So i replaced the relay after i repaired the trace and the capccitor and the relay is now engaging properly.

The inductor is pulled and reads 106.88uH

That seems high, I believe it should be around 52uH

So I should rewrap it. All that emitts from the amplifier like this is a high pitched wine and low audio. I can just measure out the same amout currently on the inductor.
I may have other issues as well, with that capacitor blown.
The inductor seems very clean. I should have 52uH when done?

So I pulled the output inductor from the other 1500.1 and it is measuring 167.46uH on this tester.
