Valve Base Recommendation

Hi guys,

Can you recommend or add your wisdom and experience to what constitutes a good valve base.

I need valve bases that will sit on top the chassis.

I have been looking at various ones but there are a lot to choose from , silver, gold, Belton Micalex, Audio Note Silver, bakalite, Teflon, ceramic

8 pin for 12AX7, 12AU7 etc

9 pin for EL34 etc

Sorry but those are real hard to find

Teflon is for low loss at UHF, so no need for audio.

Ceramic is for coping with high temperature, so unlikely for audio.

I would use NOS if you can find them. Modern valveholders can be a bit random in their dimensions, so may grip too loose or too tight.

12AX7, 12AU7 etc are 9pin B9A bases. Not 8pin I use RS PRO, Thermionic Valve Base B9A for 12AU7, 12AX7, 6DJ8, 6L13, B329, B339, CV491, CV492, E88CC, ECC82, ECC83 | RS Components

EL34 is International Octal or 8pin. Not 9pin I use Thermionic Valve Bases | RS Components

9 pin for EL34 etc

A 9 pin version of the EL34 would be called EL60 (enneal base).
