What is the current view on which capacitors sound best for output stages (besides no capacitors). I've heard good things about Jensen capacitors (US$62 per cap...)

Check, you doesn’t ask about which capacitors are needed for OPS, what caps parameters are meaningful and why, how OPS must be designed and routed, why caps have such an influence to sounding and are there a ways to eliminate this.

There are a complicated couple of questions and having no answer to any of them will disable your way to a goal.

There are many current views, ranging from 'it does not matter at all, just pick the right capacitor value' to 'use brand X, whatever the capacitor value as I do not know how to calculate the value anyway'. Which of these current views most closely matches your existing assumptions?

Do you mean for a coupling capacitor? For tube or ss?

As a coupling capacitor for analog Solid state output stages. Googling brings up a few sites where audiophiles have tried a diverse range from VCAPs to Vishay Roedersteins. I'm using 100uF 63V caps, they are back to back electrolytics. Sure there are several types like polyprops etc that would be an improvement.
