Dolby Digital.....
Soft passages are too soft and loud passages jump to a much higher volume level.

Is a compressor a MUST for all the decoded DD 5.1 Chanels?

Some processors have adjustable dynamic range (sometimes known as night mode) that should help if available

Dolby Digital...
Does anyone know if there is a comprossor stage in the 'B- chain' of a movie theatre decoder like Dolby CP-65, CP-500 and CP-650?

Hello Bimba,

none of the Dolby Processors perform dynamic compression, it goes against eveything the film industry strives for. Comsumer processors on the other hand do offer compression options, as while a cinema has controlled acoustics and well behaved speakers, the comsumer enviroment is a whole different story.
