Is it possible to connect two USB power banks in line to get 2x5V = 10V?

I want to get mobile PSU of 10V and happen to have two power banks, different brands with different specs but USB 5V output (the load shouldn't overload the max A).

Connecting them in series should work, right? Will only one power conductor suffice?

If negative lines of both supplies are grounded then BANG!

Powerbanks have no ground, they are isolated, floating like real batteries.
It should work.

Test to see if the -ve connections are common. Plug them both into a common mains supply connector, like an extension lead.

That may not work; it will only work for sure with the Powerbanks NOT connected to a charger. If you connect them to a charger it may or may not work, it depends on the charger internal connections. So don't take chances.

When you want to recharge them, take the loads off.
