He he nice. Most power draw is at boot time. So it passed your laptop peak current test. Now to see if your little sink will suffice for your use.

Hey don't barbeque the sink for fixing errors on an i7 Asus laptop. Run audio software mainly.

Now is doing updates because mainly use is for Daphile.

During Daphile only maybe the sink will be enough. For updates, browser, video streaming etc. surely needs bigger. Maybe 4-5A DC pull during Windows update.

Yes that's a good case of CPU and solid state disk working hard.

Across D11? That's lots of spare in-out voltage contributing to heat. How high AC gives the transformer?

High for the purpose. You must be having 34-35V rectified? That little sink and TO-3P pass transistor proved heroic to update an i7 19V laptop without collapsing.

Changed the heatsink for a bigger one.

Yesterday all night listening music using the L-Adapter powering the laptop without issues.

Not a big change to the sound, possible due to the fact using a SMPS filter.

Now can use the Daphile DSD256 upsample without a lot of degradation of signal.
