Develop ultra capacitor power supply and LiFePO4 battery power supply

LifePO4 26650 cells with tabs

Is it really so that we need to spot weld the tabs? It's quite difficult to find batteries with the soldering tabs. Or maybe I haven't looked at the right places...

Is there some reason all the tabs seem to be made of nickle?

Just found my old post of LifePO4 battery cells with tabs.

Just hope it helps.

Hi, I would like to use this LiFePo4 PSU, but i need one more 3.3V rail then available.
Is it possible to use one rail for the dac itself and the isolation ic ? I use the IL715E isolation chip and a 3.3V dac. Can i just connect them in parallel without big compromises in quality (of course only the clean side of the il715e). Or is a ferrite bead any good in this case ?

Hi Ian.
A question regarding the lifepo4 manual. It says on the page 9, chapter L, part 3.:
"(2). If any output voltage at J1 or J2 is lower than 3.3V, the power supply will turn off automatically to prevent
battery form over discharge.
"
Does it really shut down right below 3.3V? I thought that 3.3V is the nominal voltage for ANR26650M1B batteries and according to the battery manual you can discharge it all the way down to 2.0V. Is this 3.3V limit from the DAC and Fifopi electronics?

Hello! This is my current DAC:
https://up.nexthardware.com/user_images/28212/997/Ipoci_DSC252.jpg

I've the following separate power supply feeds:
+5V with Belleson regulator > DSC2.5.2 dac

+3.3V with Belleson regulator > DSC2.5.2 dac

+5V with Belleson regulator > DSC2.5.2 dac
+7V with LT3080 then +5V LT3083 > McFiFo
+7V with LT3080 then +5V LT3083 > DualXo
+7V with LT3080 then +5V LT3083 > BeagleBoneBlack
+5V with LT3080 > planned for DualXO Arduino display

Let assume to keep BeagleBone and Display powered by LPS, can I use a sigle UltraCapacitor board to feed the remaining 5 lines?

Is the board orderable?

Hi Ian,
I was looking for 19.8V and was wondering if I can replace some batteries with ones in series rather than using 2 boards

Hi All,

I found a source in taobao that sells the A123 battery and can also weld the tabs. The catch is that they will weld the tabs only for min 100pcs order.

If anyone in Hong Kong is interested in this we may be able to put together a sufficiently large order to have welded batteries. We can also save shipping as they charge extra shipping for lithium batteries. Please message me if you're interested.

Thanks.

Battery Config

Hi Ian,

I understand the power supply can be configured for different output voltages. My question is whether one can install all 10 cells and then simply use the jumpers to set the voltage, or one needs to remove the unused cells from the board for specific voltages?

I plan to try the supply on different devices so need to change the config from time to time. If the cells can remain in-place then it will be much easier to reconfig the output voltages as removing cells already soldered to the board may not be easy.

Thanks.

A123 ANR26650m1B 2500mAh LiFePO4 | i-tecc LiFeEnergy

A123 Systems ANR26650M1B, 2500 mAh, Lipopower, LiNANO

On the NKON site they are available with 'U' or 'Z' solder tags, anyone know which is required ? for other suppliers I suggest asking.

On the Lipopower.de site even more options for tags..

Can anyone confirm which size tab we need?
