Keep in mind that the board design and C3's cap choice are critical. Thus the 100kHz ESR note (coming from real tests on the LCR meter). I have already proper C2 & C3 suggestions from Panasonic and Nichicon to propose.

I havenít seen a Quasimodo snubber before, I am as looking at the caps before the rectifier and thinking what the? Can this be done with other psu designs and what are the benefits, less ripple?

Bix, yes its a universally applicable thing, read: Simple, no-math transformer snubber using Quasimodo test-jig
