Alpair 7.3 Pencils

These were completed about a year ago but for some reason never got posted.
These are by far the best sounded speakers I've ever made...they image like no other, the low end is just fine with no subwoofer help and in my room can not be beaten. Listening last night reminded me of how great they really sound and prompted this tardy post.

I couldn't find .75" Baltic birch so I used more expensive .75" Finish Birch (about $120 for 8'x8' here in SF). This was some of the best quality ply I've used with no voids. Despite my lack of skill with a router (the edges have a few router gouges and burn marks), I'm pleased with the aesthetics achieved with a few coats of polyurethane.

They are, however, fairly unforgiving with poor source material. I had to switch from these to standard 3-way speakers and a higher powered amp while listening the new box of Beatles vinyl remasters I gave my wife for Christmas.....

Oh, no!! Not the Beatles!?!

Mario,

Just get rid of that Beatles box. It doesn't live up to all the hype. I can take it off your hands any time. (I'm personally too cheap to pop for it though quite a few on phonogram picked it up. Nice gift.)

Nice job on the speakers!!
