QUAD ESL-63 (988-2905 etc.) on steroids

What's your opinion about rebuilding one big ESL from two ESL63? Two options: horizontal or vertical stacking, latter potentially better like new model ESL-60 (line source?).

IMHO ESL-60 is just a 6 panel speaker (like 989, 2905 and 2912) with the only difference that the panels are rotated 90 degrees.


No line source, no stacking.

4 bass panels, 2 top, 2 bottom and 2 mid/high panels in the center (d'Apolito) with the delay rings just like other 6 panels Quad models.

I use 3 bass panels ESL57 and tweeter panel on hinges. Very good setup.

We were talking ESL-63 and ESL-60 here right?
ESL-57 is a totally different design

No, they were only showed at the 2017 Munich High End show to celebrate 60 years of Quad ESL.
AFAK never taken into production.

Not quite, they are narrower, so the pressure feedback rolloff happens higher up in frequency. I bet money, they haven't tweaked anything to compensate for it either.

So they are potentially worse than the other 6 panel quads.
