Daphile - Audiophile Music Server & Player OS

It is the latest updated beta. See the change control ... http://www.daphile.com/firmware/private-beta/CHANGES-19.07-b161858

Last night I played with V19.07 on a separate PC I found it is very similar to V19.01 which I am using now. I suspect V19.07 is about fixing inherent bugs only and knowing the 2nd decimal place difference in numbering, there is probably no difference in features.

My opinion I believe this software is quite good, I think the developer(s) should charge some money for using this software, for their effort. Unlike Roon who charges like a BULL for using their s/w which I refuse even to test their trial s/w.

Hi,

anyone having problems with the two latest beta versions:

http://www.daphile.com/firmware/beta/daphile-19.06-b301132-x86_64-rt.iso

and

http://www.daphile.com/firmware/beta/daphile-19.07-b161858-x86_64-rt.iso

?

Using a Zotac CI620. When I tried to update via Daphile the new versions would not start and on reboot the older version started. When trying a new install with:

http://www.daphile.com/firmware/beta/daphile-19.06-b301132-x86_64-rt.iso

It worked initially but when the media server was restarted in order to install Quobuz plugin or if Daphile had to be restarted in order to implement DRC filters via brutefir the new version did not start or it could not find my audio player (RME ADI-2 Pro) instead showing HDA intel PCH as the only available audio player (message failed to load RME ADI-2 Pro) regardless whether HDA was disabled or not prior to the restart.

In the 19.01 RT beta, things worked very well. In the 19.07 RT beta, the device can become unresponsive for a time: pinging says "Host is down" and neither the Daphile audio player nor the LMS standard interface at <ip-address>:9000 has any influence. When this happens the music that was playing stops. After a time measured in minutes the device recovers without rebooting. It is mysterious behavior and it's a misfortune that it shows up here but was not an issue in 19.01. Hints to diagnose this are welcome.

One of these events turned up in /var/log/netmgr:

The last entry from the log (writing at 19-08-14 at 1140) is the last entry shown. Not sure why the disconnect but the Audio Player was unresponsive for a few minutes, and of course the sound had stopped. At that time, of course, I couldn't ping it either.

Hi Guys,

I've succesfully installed Daphile several times over the years now on different hardware platforms, including a NUC.. And It worked fine.

Some days ago I pressed "suspend" and Daphile was gone. So now I am trying to install Daphile again on a NUC.. And somehow I cannot get past "Running Daphile from the read-only mode".

I have installed the ISO file on a correct USB with usbwriter. (I tried several different ones)

In BIOS when I select boot from UEFI USB boot -> read only mode

In BIOS when I select boot from Legacy USB boot -> read only mode

I've tried many times by now. Once I selected Legacy USB boot and happy days, it was not in the Read Only Mode. After installing the firmware, It stated that I wasn't in UEFI mode.. So bad luck.

Should I check the status of my internal SSD? It's empty. The NUC cannot boot without the USB.

BTW: I very often get the annoying "Wifi hotspot only" after rebooting. I might have a router problem also.

I would appreciete some help :)

I don't really understand your problem but have you tried creating the usb stick with Rufus. It works everytime for me with no issues

When I use Rufus, the same problem occurs. I boot in BIOS from the USB disk. F1, network, format SSD, NUC restarts and it gives an invalid IP: "192.168.128.1 Wifi Hotspot Only".

When I use an USB made with USBWriter: I boot in BIOS from the USB disk. F1, network, format SSD, NUC restarts and gives a valid IP. When I enter the IP: Dahile is in "read only modus". It's possible to install firmare. I use: MSDOS, UEFI and BIOS. When I deselect UEFI, the NUC reboots with loads of commandlines and then stops.. Doing nothing.

After reboot (and install firmware in read only modus) Daphile gives back theinvalid IP with the message "WIFI hotspot only". It seems that I cannot install Daphile anymore.. And I have done this several times on this NUC.

Thx for your help. I have installed Daphile several times in the past years. I do not know why it didn't go smoothly this time and I think my NUC is somehow magic. I just kept repeating the same procedure but it's annoying to do so untill it works (after 20 times orso).

Still, Daphile rocks (once it's working again).

On Bean Canyon NUCs older versions of DAaphile will not work correctly. You need 19.01 or later. Earlier versions do not install correctly on newer secure boot BIOSes.

Even with newer kernels getting Bean Canyon to work is a painful process because everything is pretty much new. Also it was designed primarily for Windows, so Linux and related guys got the short straw.

192.168.128.1 is the auto generated IP. If you have a keyboard and an a display, try to put by hand
192.168.128.2
It worked for me one time ( a guy knowing lynux installed mine, using only cable LAN
connexion, wifi disabled).
