DIY Audio has many new things now. Glad there is a PC forum.

For years I have run a Yamaha RP U100 reciever originally gotten on closeout.
The computer can control the receiver from the video screen under Windows software. Natch, this has never been updated because the product is diconstinued. Even used on Ebay holds the price at resale.

What I'm wondering is: Is there any USB controlled receiver out there with similar features?

The software allows control of audio volume, has a bunch of presets, has a white noise generator, faux surround (which I don't use with my single driver speaker builds) AM/ FM and EQ. All this stuff is in an onscreen control panel.

I do not understand why this technology was abandoned and have seen no similar replacements which would control the physical on/off functions of an outboard audio receiver.

There was one out there called Outlaw at one point but it was over priced IMHO.
