As I understand it, Fairchild, a subsidary of National
Semiconductor, purchased Samsung's power Mosfet fab facility in
Korea with staff and who knows what else.

We use Fairchild parts and like them very much, but I have to
say that the 9610's we got from Samsung did not work out for
us.

Where this will put Fairchild product in the future is anybody's
guess, but I'll let you know if anything develops.

Nelson, I apologize for not explaining this earlier, these are actually power mosfets in a TO-247 package.

Quick Specs:

48A, 100V, RDS(on) = 0.039W @VGS = 10V
Low gate charge (typical 48 nC)
Low Crss (typical 85 pF)
Fast switching
100% avalanche tested
Improved dv/dt capability
175°C maximum junction temperature rating

Looking at the curves, I think you could make a pretty
linear little amp at that operating point. I would like
10 amps, but I wouldn't dare to try it. The 20V implies
something like a Zen circuit with a 40 volt rail, and you
could expect maybe 20 watts output. The 180 watt
chip would certainly need all the cooling you could throw
at it, and it might not last too long, but I bet it would
sound great while it did.
